Members of the work group
The SYPO microdevelopment work group consists of Clovis Hopman (team leader), Oscar Westerhof and Emma Kandelaars. The members have a quantitative, economic background (a physicist/macroeconomic researcher and two students of econometrics), know-how of financial subjects and ample experience in development aid.
Methods of operation
In Uganda, the project works with a small office for its administration, and loan officers that move into the villages to meet the clients. The project has a managing director, region officers, loan officers and administrative assistants. All the staff, except for the administrative assistants, work at least one day a week in the field to stay in touch with the clients.
In The Netherlands, SYPO will monitor the project, provide advise and help, and in general make sure that the project will be executed as is described on this website.
